Dime Bank Blue Crew - Ran to Pay Tribute to the Traveling Military Wall

News Release - June 19, 2009

Norwich, CT - The Dime Bank Blue Crew was on the road again - this time running in honor of the traveling military wall, our veterans, men and women serving in the military and those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Collectively, runners represented the POW's that lead the run through Montville, followed by the Mohegan Striders in red, later to be joined by the National Guard of Groton in white and lastly the Dime Bank Blue Crew joining in Norwich.

The run commenced along Route 32 at 5:32 pm, ending at H.T. Brown Park around 7pm. The tribute precession included runners leading the pack, only to be followed by hundreds of motorcycles, antique, police and military vehicles. Rich DeLorge of the Richard E. Hourigan VFW Post 594 in Norwich hosted the ceremony.

"As we ran into H. T. Brown Park carrying the flag, the emotions became obvious. Smiles, emotional faces and salutes greeted the flag we were carrying from police officers, military, Vets and families. It's one of those moments you will never forget and you will carry forever. The Blue Crew is thankful we were able to be a part of this tribute, said Matthews."
